Great bar food. At least 3 stars above Buffalo Wild Wings. Food- We started off with some nachos, which once we got past the top layer of lettuce, were actually quite good. They had pulled pork on them which was cooked nicely. For dinner I had 10 BBQ wings. These are the best wings I've ever had besides melnicks in Chicago. They had a lot of meat on them and the sauce tasted homemade. I ended up only eating 2 and sharing the rest. I'd recommend this place any day over any other sports grill in town. The root beer was draft too which tasted awesome. Service- Service was nice and we had a party of nine and they brought everything pretty fast.

Not what you'd expect for bar food been here several times and never had a bad meal. Tuesday's are half price burgers really like the Farmer Burger and of course you gotta have the tater tots. Huge drink menu for beer and mixed drinks so far enjoyed all but one and they offered to replace it no charge. Definitely a nice local pub to visit with friends and family. If you like whiskey and peach schnapps order the peach lightning it blends the two unlikely spirits with lemonade resulting in a great beverage.

So, I don't know why, but my husband loves this place. Ok. I know why. they have deep-fried bacon. I love bacon, but deep-frying it makes it super, super salty. Anyway. We arrived at 8:30 pm on a Saturday night and sat ourselves. We were one of 5 groups of people in the entire place which is kind of sad for a Saturday. Unfortunately, the booth we chose was filthy. As in, it hadn't been cleaned since the people left. But, it was a corner booth and I wanted to sit there. I have a thing for corner booths. Our waiter arrived in 5-10 minutes. He brought us water and had good suggestions on the beer menu. On Saturday nights from 9 pm to close, they have a $5 appetizer menu. Basically all the appetizers for $5. It's that simple. He did allow us to order a couple of $5 appetizers, a few minutes before it actually turned 9 pm, which was nice. It worked out in his favor because we ordered like 6 of them; pretzel sticks, cheese curds, quesadilla, some sort of loaded tator tots, deep fried bacon and fried pickles. My husband also ordered mac and cheese for himself. Even though it wasn't necessary. We had tons of food left over. Appetizer-enjoyer aware. The "nacho cheese" that comes with everything is not normal cheese. It was the weirdest cheese ever and a HUGE disappointment to say the least. It came with everything. It was brownish yellow and chunky, but instead of chili cheese type cheese, it just seemed curdled in texture. It literally looked like vomit. And it was disgusting. The tots were covered in them and very disappointing. If you're brave, order it on the side. It was literally the GROSSEST cheese I have ever tasted (even more than the stinky foot cheese my dad used to buy). Pretzel sticks were average, baked from frozen pretzel sticks. They came with cheese and honey mustard dipping sauces. Fried pickles were delicious, but the fried part slid right off. But they were sweet and interesting tasting. Deep fried bacon as mentioned above.. super salty, but if you're into that thing, whatever. Loaded tator tots: whatever wasn't covered in the disgusting cheese was pretty good. I mean, tator tots are tator tots. Fried cheese curds. Decent, not the best I've ever had. Not the worst I've ever had. Quesadilla. Pretty tasty, but very messy. None of them could be eaten as a finger food. I ended up cutting them with a fork and knife. They were laid together and so I would pick one up and the tortilla would be missing on the next. Tasty, but needs better presentation. The drinks were good. Until the end of June, summer shandy is $3.75. They have a monthly beer special and daily drink specials. I had the 21st amendment Hell or High water Watermelon ale. It was delicious and I highly recommend it. Perfect light taste of watermelon, a great summer drink. They have the 10% Not your Father's Rooter, but I guess every one does nowadays. Our waiter was really nice and friendly so that was probably the best part. Food was severely lacking. I ordered a side of tator tots that never showed up. But we weren't charged for them either. I'll probably be forced to go back eventually for the deep-fried bacon my husband loves, but it is definitely not one of my top choices (or anywhere near it).

A little disappointed with my meal at STC's Tap House Grill. I've been to the Glen Ellyn location, which was okay, too. I don't think I put in a review for that one, but I ordered the same dish. My group arrived 10 minutes before noon. We seated ourselves to a mostly empty restaurant and bar. They offer your standard bar fare: burgers, sandwiches, entrees, salads, and some specialties that didn't seem too special to me. I went with the Kobe Burger (which probably wasn't Kobe; none in the U.S. really is really Kobe, but I have no idea) cooked medium along with a house salad. I ordered the balsamic on the side. Our order was taken relatively quickly, but we didn't receive our food until about 12:30. The wait had to be between 20 and 30 minutes. I was surprised because the restaurant was empty (one big party had their food before we sat down). My burger was blah. Salad was okay; my co-workers ordered wraps, burgers, and sandwiches. My bill was 15.69; definitely not worth it. The burger tasted normal and needed lots of ketchup. I ordered it medium and it was medium well, almost well done. I won't be returning; I'd prefer a McDonalds burger for taste, and more importantly, price.

Beer selection is excellent and the staff is very friendly. However, Id say the food is good not great just typical bar fair. I'd recommend coming for some drinks and apps rather then a meal unless you want a very basic burger or sandwich.

Very nice atmosphere. Dropped in and had a bowl of soup and deep fried bacon. The food was ok, but I gave 4 stars because of the super atmosphere and service. I plan on going back with friends (maybe after a rugby game) and trying their burgers.

Tap House Grill is another place I want to love, I just don't. The food is fine. The drink selection is good. The Specials are usually great, but the service kinda stinks. It's typically slow and unenthusiastic. This is fine for me because I'll just tip less, but I'm sure the appropriate tip aggravates the servers, which allows them to continue to be slow, no fun and not happy to be at work. As for the menu, the apps are all decent. I do really enjoy the nachos by comparison to other bar type places. I don't eat burgers, but I hear they are good. The salads are all good too. As for the beers, there is a good selection and usually something is on special. Side note: we went for the family NYE 2015 a we probably won't do that again. It's such a shame, because the concept was awesome, but the execution needs work. This location has been in business six years, or is it eight, I think six, they just had an anniversary week, but some attention to detail is going to be needed to make it another six. I'll definitely go back, it's close, big and convenient with kids, so I hope some improvements begin soon.

Was here yesterday around lunchtime, for the first time since I was a kid. Unfortunately there was only one cook and they did tell us the kitchen is backed up. We decided to stay anyway. It took our food at least 45 minutes to an hour before it was done. Stressful that we had to wait that long, I wasn't nearly as hungry as when we arrived, by the time they brought us the food. I did speak with the server, he said the restaurant was changing managers and that they had accidentally messed up the schedule. Poor employees, they were running around busting their asses (yet remained polite and kind all the while). I ordered the tipsy stout burger. It was pretty good, a little sweet from the sauce. Boyfriend ordered the farm burger (has an egg),said it was really good and it looked really good. I give this place a thumbs up for having Sprecher root beer on tap, and tater tots as a swappable side for the standard fries. -Will be giving it 3 stars, until I come back for next (and hopefully better) experience.

Delicious food, as good as from years ago. Been ordering out and has been delicious each time!! Bad service of past has been forgotten; not sure if service is still bad but we've been ordering out so were happy! Fish tacos are fantastic, as well as fried pickles. Never had a bad thing here.

Omg. Dog food !!!! They run this place like morons! Go in there and try the old wings and never go back if you dare. The rest of the food just like I said. Alpo brand or chuck wagon.

When you travel with a youth hockey team & their families, finishing a place capable of accommodating you is tough. This weekend we had some awful experiences from some very well known restaurants in the Chicago area. Tap House stands diametrically opposed to those other places. The restaurants sits on a quiet section of a country road. The place is quaint, but really inviting. The food was delicious -- like surprisingly innovative, yet accessible. You think, "oh, beer & burgers; where's the innovation?" I know... but the menu was really a treat. Speaking of treats, make sure you end on the homemade Kit Kat & the donuts. Both were great. Oh!! And "adult" root beer? Amazing. We loved this place, ate well, laughed a ton & were blown away by the service. Kudos, Tap House!

How can you miss with 40 beers on tap? Excellent food, great staff. We will be back sooner than later. My friend was disappointed on three things. 1. No NFL ticket, we could only watch the Bears game. 2. No Labatts. 3. No Bass to make a proper Black & Tan. BUT they do have Small Town Brewery's "Not your fathers root beer" beer on tap (10.5%, not the 19.5%, but thats ok)

First I would like to explain how the last time I was here, I received a mysterious piece of metal in my sandwich. I let this slide after they apologized and comped the meal. Turns out it was a metal(brass) bristle from a brush they use to clean their grills. How the hell it ended up in my sandwich is the real mystery. So, now I go there, deciding to give them a second chance and get some lunch. Their beer board is out of date and my girlfriend gets a burger with a chunk of frozen mystery meat on top as well as an egg that was meant to be running, but instead sat in a state of gelatinous stillness. The waitress was entirely unapologetic and didn't seem to care at all that we were not pleased with the meal, and just walked away after we brought it to her attention. This place has way too much mysterious stuff going on for my liking. Never going back. Good luck, wary traveller.

First time here. Cheese curds were great. Got the "house specialty" and it came out cold. Sent back. Overall taste was just ok which makes it over priced.

Great service, huge beer selection, excellent food and nice atmosphere, what else do you need? The beer menu is huge, lots of micro brews and local beers on tap and the beer menu changes frequently. They usually have about 30 different micro brews on tap at any given time, so it's easy to try new beers. I've had the same server both times I've been here and she's been awesome both times. Food is great, I've always enjoyed everything I've had here. It has a nice English pub vibe, not too noisy and more of an adult setting, not a sports bar. If you are in the area and you love a good micro brew, I would highly recommend checking it out. If they would just put a Tap House near the Naperville/Aurora area I'd be even happier. It's still worth the drive.

Called in ahead of time to see if they would have a game on TV and the girl who answered the phone confirmed that they would. Showed up that night during a hockey final and they refused to change the channel for us. The server was very rude so we walked out before ordering anything. Very unprofessional.

Terrible service by servers that wanted to be anywhere else but there. The food did not make up for it either. Never, ever going back!!!

Average pub good; however, they have they have consistently slowest service off any restaurant ever...ever. I mean ever.

Great selection of beers and really nice pub style menu. However, actual cooking of the menu fell short. Ordered a farm burger medium but it came out very red. I can live thru that with a nice cut of steak but a burger that red was sketchy. The kitchen was already running very slow as it was a sat night so I didn't say anything - my own fault. My wife ordered the shrimp tacos but the only flavor we tasted was lime. A lot of lime. Server was very nice and I like the atmosphere. Kitchen is the only reason this is a three star and not five though.

I was looking for someplace different before going to a movie at Charlestown and happened upon this place via google search. Reviews were pretty good and the beer selection sounded awesome, so a friend and I chanced it. We sat at the bar (a very large, wooden, comfortable bar with good views of all the taps) and were greated by a very friendly Andrea. She was very informative and attentive. The tap beer list is quite extensive, and after decididng on one, she came back with a half full glass and indicated that was the last of that particular beer. I could have that beer at no charge. Andrea dissappeared for a bit and we had another bartender who really wasnt very friendly - we were happy when Andrea returned to take our beer and food order. The beers came right up and our food shortly after. My friend had the beer root beer (Old Town?), which was very tasty! It is 10% ABV so be careful. THere were so many good beers on tap to choose from, I had a hard time picking just one. I ended up with Leinies Snowdrift Vanilla Porter which I've never seen on tap anywhere before. Very good also. We ordered the WIld Mushroom and Brie Chicken sandwich to split. It came out piping hot on two plates with the sandwhich and tots presplit for us. We though this was an extra nice touch. The sandwich was good, especially when dipping in their truffle aioli sauce (we ordered it on the side), as were the tots. Cooked to perfection. We had to leave in a hurry to make it to our movie on time, and Andrea was quick to clear our plates, get us our check and process it. All in all a very good experience, and we will return in the future for more beer and food tastings. I beleive you can sample any beer for $1, which is a very nice option to have.

Great place for a beer and a burger. On tap as well as bottled beer list is great. Lots of yummy drinks and of course a good Bloody Mary. (Wouldn't be Sunday if I didn't get one of those). We sat at the bar and were served immediately, it was a Sunday morning and no matter where we sat we would have been served in a timely matter because it wasn't crowded. We ordered the Drunken Shrimp to start, they were great. Spicy and fresh! Not a heavy appetizer which I like. My boyfriend ordered the stuffed burger, a hamburger patty stuffed with jalepano, cheese and bacon on a pretzel bun, we loved it. The fries were great too. I ordered the Exotic wings, Siracha and sweet chili sauce, they were excellent, but not spicy which was disappointing for me but otherwise they were good. I also ordered the beer cheese soup, which was good but not my favorite! I will definitely be back here for the wings and when I'm craving a sandwich. They have a lot of beer and liquor based sauces as well which is unique. The menu is Huge too! Something for everyone! Enjoy!

Case of the Mondays? All drafts are $3 on Mondays at Tap House. All your problems are solved. Can't go out on Monday night because you have kids and they're hungry? No problem. Tell your wife to stop trippin'. Your kids can eat FREE on Mondays at Tap House. Didn't I just tell you all your problems were solved? I'm not talking fast, you're just listening slow. One time, I walked in here clean shaven and wore a Justin Bieber t-shirt. Then I tried to pass my beer off as apple juice. Just for some free food. But they didn't believe I was 7. It was worth a try. Monday is by far the best day at Tap House. We had a group of four, and I swear we drank that entire pretentious beer menu at least 3 times, and it came out to about $25 a person. All my problems were solved. Until I woke up the next morning.

Food is mediocre, except for the tots, I like when restaurants offer tots. The service is horrible. Had to ask for all my refills instead of just being given one when the cup was low The chicken beast in my sandwich was dry. My daughter disliked the chicken fingers, and that is her food of choice when eating out. Kids eat free on Sundays, but not if you also order the boneless wing special, would have been nice to know ahead of time. After waiting for our food for 20 minutes we were then informed one of our dishes was out of ingredients, this should have been addressed when the order was put in. One of our dishes was also brought out about 5 minutes after everyone else, and 3 of us ordered it, so it should not have been and issue, and when it did come out the tots were missing. Not sure I'll give them another chance.

A family favorite. In fact, when we went on a Saturday night, I was shocked to see how many other families were there as well. And, it's on Sundays that kids eat free, so that was part of my shock. The good thing is that even with so many kids in the place, it didn't sound like Chucky Cheese's. For the review, I am going to cut to the chase. I loved my salad! It was the kind of salad I would make for myself with tons of veggies. Plus, the server suggested that I put shrimp on it. I worried about that b/c I ordered Balsamic dressing, but she said it was "herby", so I trusted her. So glad that I did. It was a White Balsamic and it did not overpower the salad. We also had an appetizer of cheese curds, yummy, but a little on the salty side. My husband and youngest shared BBQ wings which they said were better than most places. And another son had the two mini burgers. Lastly, for the beer- all yummy. And the DH was happy to find Rogue's Dead Guy beer there.

Went to the one in St. Charles. Had a good, but not awesome, Tap House burger. Soft pretzel appetizer was really good. The fried bacon was breaded and disgusting; never thought I'd say bacon was disgusting. Beer selection was good though.

I want this place to be good because it's right next to my house. But every time they're under staffed and service is so slow. The food is good. But if you don't have an hour or more to kill it, I suggest going somewhere else.

I've visited Tap House on three occasions. Every visit brings mixed reviews. Lets talk beer. Tap beer should be served cold. Beer here is barely cold. Not much head and doesn't flow down the glass as expected. Food is also hit or miss. Being on the mailing list I've received half dozen mailings touting St. Patrick days specials. However their advertising is deceptive. " Shrimp and Scallops, macaroni turns out to be a mixed up mess, not separate shrimp and scallops. Not wanting the unappetizing dish my wife ordered a pot pie. What was served wasn't a pot pie. It was a thick semi tasteless chicken and peas in a white gravy served in a soup bowl with a puff pastry thrown in the middle. Not what you'd expect ordering a pot pie. On previous visits I've had the chicken tenders and hamburgers and both were pretty good. I had the fish fry and it likewise was good. But something we ate gave me great stomach distress for most of the next day. I think it was the tarter sauce. Any bar that serves 30 beers on tap should sell cold beer. Service was good with friendly attitudes. But I don't trust any place that has the miss steps this place does at above average prices.

Let me preface that I hate people who write overly dramatic reviews but...Nightmare!!!!! Third try and if it's not last I was kidnapped and held hostage here. Waited and hour for cold food and actually felt bad for the server who was helping us. Not her fault she works at this train wreck! It has always baffled me that the Tap House in Glen Ellyn is so spot on and thiamine just can't get it together.

We frequent, due to living close. I will say food for "bar" food is good, but not excellent. Loud, but they do have some good trivia fun. Give it a try. We had featured beers be "out" too many times, so that's a bummer.

Beer selection outstanding! Wings are very good. I like the beer pairings with the different entrees. Service is good as I think the bartender is involved with ownership.

We had gone here several times and before would have rated it very high. The burgers used to be awesome but sometime after they remodeled the site in STC they switched the burgers to some cheap frozen patty. And also switched the buns to some terrible one. Will probably give them one more chance and if they have not brought back the original quality burger they will never see us again. Which is a shame because the old burger was maybe the best around.

  • Steve G.

Still a great neighborhood bar. Beer selection was a little weak this week, but we split a kobe burger and man was it excellent! We substituted a salad for the fries and the kitchen did a great job of splitting the burger and salad and plating it for us. Nice!

The TAP House was a second choice as another, nearby haunt was too full. Parking was perfect and there is open air seating in pleasant weather. Upon entering, three of us sat at the elevated floor area and shorter chairs. Not many people, so seating was easy. Here are things I see right away. Lots of TVs with different sports. A large chalk board with TAP beers. A large U-shaped bar.Centralized bathrooms. Lots of waiters. So, the bartender checks on me as I peruse the TAP list on the chalkboard. She gives me a printout to explain each beer; name, brewery, ABV, size of glass, cost. I asked for a sample of a Scotch Ale and it was free, all done with a smile. I returned to my friends and explained the beers as they are not beer snobs. Almost half of their beers are from Founders in Grand Rapids, MI. ..... a fantastic brewery. There are local beers too. There are 30 - 40 bottle beers as well. We ordered Porters and Stouts, they were all malty delicious with good ABV. I went to the restroom. It was large, clean and easy to use. I ordered the Tasty Burger, a house specialty. Fast service. It was cooked with beer and covered with onion strings, lettuce, pickles, all on a pretzel roll. It was good but not outrageous or anything. The roll was dense and could stand up to anything, nice and chewy too. The burger was good but a shade bland. The pickles............AWESOME PICKLES. I wanted a bowl of them. The tater tots were great too. My friends liked their burgers. One was stuffed with cheese and jalapenos. The other was a blue cheese burger, always good. The mark of a real TAP house isn't the faux kilts, a beer list with Blue Moon or clad with a Guinness mirror. It should have open space to move, be inviting, a great selection of micro brews, including some locals, regional and nationals, It should have some Industrial Swill (Bud, Miller) for the uncultured. It should have a traditional game or two like darts.. However, it should say Beer Snob! The TAP House achieves this with The Periodic Table of Beers. Harken back to high school and your chemistry class. It had a periodic table of elements, Pb, O, Au, Ag, etc.....molecular weights, etc.... Well The Periodic Table of Beers categorizes all types of beer in a similar manner; styles, ABV, gravity, etc... So, if you are a beer snob, hit the TAP House; good food, great beers and a nice "BEER" place. If your are just a snob, go someplace else; order your foie gras, bitch about waiting for 10 minutes and use your credit card too.

My wife and I live down the street and just discovered this place! We stopped in for dinner last night. Were given a free appetizer card just for being first timers, already made me a fan! But the food! That prime dip sandwich is the BEST. Our server (Christine) was very friendly and accommodating. We always had full drinks and our food came out fast and hot. They say Addictive Food, and it is so true! We went back today for lunch. This will definitely be our new spot so close to home. Only reason we give it 4 stars is because it can get loud in there. But everything else was awesome. I don't get the bad reviews at all.

Can't believe the 3 star rating. Service is fast and friendly. Burgers are some of the best around. Appetizers are creative and excellent. Prices are just fine. Been here a few times now and it's awesome.

I went to the Glen Ellyn location before this one so I'm not comparing the two or anything. I had a good experience there, love the extensive menu AND by signing up on their email list I received a coupon for $10 off $25 around the holidays. Score! I couldn't really get past the appetizers because I wanted to order one of each so instead of setting ourselves up for a food coma of appetizer or appetizers plus meal we decided to just get a few appetizers. Although I'm not sure I want to admit this but we ordered the "heart attack on a plate" and being their deep friend bacon...yes, you only live once so why not chow down on something you don't see on every menu, right??? Yes, so we ordered that, and well... yeah, it was a plate of breaded goodness, but not greasy or anything. We also got mini pigs in a blanket, and chili cheese nacho tater tots which were good, but because of the toppings, they got a little soggy but that was expected. Our server, Breanna was great and overall great experience...and most of all cheap thanks to Tap House Grill sending that great coupon! There are several locations of this place so if you're near one of them, hit them up!

While the waitress we had was friendly, there was another waitress working in a different area who seemed quite unhappy. Every time I saw her she seemed to be making a rather disgusted face, as if serving her tables was beneath her. This location had an excellent selection of dark beers on nitro, which greatly appealed to me. I tried the chicken caesar press. It was kind of bland, not much of a caesar taste to it. One of my friends had the pretzel prime rib dip and didn't think too highly of it. The other tried the braised beef and gouda. Again, not a knockout. If you go, I guess stick to the Kobe burger as they seem to do a good job with that at least.

Tap House grill has a lot more space than when they first opened, which I definitely enjoy. The beer list is great- I never have to repeat a beverage because there are so many delicious things to try. I have not tried too many items on their food list- but the chocolate cake was delicious. Service is a bit hit or miss- when they are busy we sometimes sit for awhile with empty beverages- this past time when we were there though our server was very attentive and had great suggestions. I think if there were a few small tweaks this place could be excellent.

Have to admit, I am kind of surprised by the negative reviews. My family and I have been here no less than 10 times, and we have never had the problems as described by others. Staff has always been very helpful and accommodating to us (we have three kids under 5). I have had numerous things on the menu and have not been disappointed by any. My personal favorites are the burgers. The steak tacos are excellent though, and the chicken fingers, are a hidden secret. My kids "order" them, but I end up "eating" them. My favorite aspect of THG though is the beer menu and the $1 taster drinks you can get. I am starting to learn more and more what I do like and don't in terms of beers, but I am no expert by any means. Add to it, that I love to try new beers and the $1 tasters are perfect for me. I will usually order one beer that I know I will enjoy and then 2-3 tasters to see if I find a new one to try out next time I am in. Kids eat free on Monday's if families are interested. There is plenty of "dining room" area away from the bar, so don't worry about your kids being in a bar atmosphere. I will be back soon!

I went here last night with a couple friends and it wasn't the best experience I've had at a restaurant. We came to get a couple drinks so our server did not seem pleased that we weren't ordering food. I got the sangria, which was pretty awful. I've never ordered sangria at a restaurant that I haven't liked. Then I got some dragon drink that was just pure sugar, which was also not the best The worst part was when we had paid and were sitting around, our server came by and took the umbrella out of our table while we were still sitting there! She almost hit me in the head collapsing it and again with the pole taking it out. She could not have been more rude or annoyed with us. I understand it was late and she probably wanted to go home but come on... That was just plain rude.

Only two stars because I've experienced better here before. This used to be our go-to place, but over the last couple months things have been going downhill. The chili is soup-like, with more beans than beef. The fish and chips dinner is down to two pieces of cod. My beef-and-gouda sandwich was a shadow of its former self, and even lacked any gouda (making it more like beefy stew on Italian bread). Even the pickles used for the garnish seem more thinly sliced than usual. The burgers are still okay, although I question why they put "Tipsy Stout" sauce on both sides of the bun, making it a mess to eat. Service, while friendly, is always hit-and-miss, anyway. And while the crowds still come (more families than before), I think we'll try some other places for a few months to see if things get better.

No, just no. I wanted to like this place, I really did. My boyfriend and I have been here a number of times and no experience was good. I still cant figure out why we kept coming back again and again. Lets start from the top: 1) The customer service her is AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL!!!! Every single time we've visited this location it takes, no joke, 20 minutes to get JUST our drinks!!! They try to give you excuses that it's super busy but it never is. It's just pure laziness! and they ALWAYS double charge on drinks and instead of clearing it up so you don't pay, they give you a card for a free drink the next time you come in...are you freaking kidding me?! AND they are completely rude when you do tell them that there was a double charge! I think the staff at this location needs a lot of training or they need to just clean house and start over again! 2) The food is really not that great. I think I've only has one item on the menu that was decent and it was the Chicken Caesar Panini. The other items I've had there like loaded tater "totchos", Kobe Sliders and the Pesto Chicken and Bacon Wrap were super bland but the Salmon was WAY too salty. 3)They has a large list of beer but almost all of them are always sold out. I think they need to learn how to keep their beers in stock since they are a Tap House! We will not be returning to this location. I suggest going to the Geneva Tap House instead. MUCH better customer service and food!

If at all possible, skip this location. I had been to a different Tap House Grill the night before and LOVED it, so when asked, my friend wanted to go, too. Especially after I raved about the food and she saw the online menu. So we decided to go to this location in St. Charles because it was closer--BIG mistake. The hours say they open at 11. We got there at 11:05, walked in, and there was nobody there. Not just no patrons, but no bartender, no waitress, no hostess. We sat there for a while waiting patiently, and then started to call out "hello??". About 3 minutes later, the bartender comes out and says "oh, we didn't know you were here--technically we're not open". Ok, lady, then you probably shouldn't have your hours listed as 11 am and your door unlocked... So anyway, our server was Ashley. She.was.awful. She gave attitude about everything, she rushed us through looking at the menu, and our drinks were empty for about 15 minutes every time before we had to ask her to refill them. Plus, about 20 minutes after we ordered (so we should have been getting our food anytime...) the waitress comes out and says to my friend who ordered a burger "we don't have any meat--someone forgot to take it out of the freezer last night". OK, first of all, what?? And second of all, it took them over 20 minutes to realize this and try to fix it? So they made my friend rush and pick something else while she hovered over us, and my friend hated what she had. Plus, I ordered the homemade kit kats for dessert, and they were HALF the size they were at the Glen Ellyn location the night before. Good points--the chicken and mushroom panini and the jalapeno macaroni and cheese. Bad points--everything else Avoid this location at all costs!!

if i would have written this review about a year ago it would have gotten another star. food used to be good and all the sudden the quality went down. they swapped out the bread on my fav sandwiches and almost seemed to start caring less about the food in general.

Beer selection is (usually) supurb--- am a huge fan of their monthly beer specials, a couple months back it was my favorite Stone IPA for $3.50 a draft.. can't beat that! The food is "meh" -- typical bar food, not bad, but nothing worth mentioning. The service is also so so... (I'd suggest heading here for drinks and then grabbing dinner elsewhere.) Tip: Stop by a night when they have trivia! Always a good time.

We came here for dinner because we were given a gift card. We didn't realize it was kids eat free night or dollar drafts, both nice surprises. The food was just ok, beer selection good, but I do not recommend bringing kids- even at 5 pm on a Monday there were clearly drunk and very rude people at the table next to us who were trying to pick a fight. The topper was the server said she couldn't get our brand new, perfectly good gift card to work so we had to use another payment. The manager was consulted and he said their "server was down" so they couldn't take gift cards! (it was working fine for our debit card however). Overall, it was an awful experience and we will not be back, not even to use the gift card that they may or may not accept. I gave 2 stars for the food and beer.

BLAHHH!! The only reason I came here is because I accidently ordered restaurant.com coupons for the wrong place. The only good thing about this place was the coke. hahaha We had some queso dip that yea, tasted like Velveeta mixed with salsa. It came with the chips and bread. When we ordered more chips the waitress said it would be a while because they fry them to order, umm...where? the next town over? because when we got them they were not warm and tasted like they came right out of a bag, not a fryer. The Taphouse Stuffed burger sounded so delicious (Stuffed with jalapeno, bacon, and cheese I think), so I said ok, I'll be spontaneous and order it, bad choice. The burger was SOOO pink inside I could not finish it. I bit off the cooked pieces and tried dipping it into the "stuffing". Never again. Drinks here is the only thing I'd recommend. Sorry. ; )

I know someone that works here so i will be gentle. First our waitress, lauren was outstanding she knew the beer menu very well and also the food menu as well. She was polite and attentive. Now, i have never eaten at a restaurant that served my salad on the same plate as my main course. I mean, REALLY. What a disappointment. My blue cheese dressing leaked out and mingled with the veggies and the steak thus killing the flavors. REALLY!!!!!

We came here for the large beer selection, and the interesting menu. We had the fried cheese curds, which were pretty good. It appears they are battered and fried on site, unlike some pre-made ones I have had at other places. I had the special, which was a blue cheese burger with onions and hot sauce. The burger was way overcooked and kind of dry. I ate it anyways, since I really don't like to complain about things at restaurants. I might return for the beer menu, and to have a meal that isn't as sensitive to being cooked too long.

Wife and I went here for beers and appetizers and were not disappointed. If you're a beer drinker, you will enjoy this place. A huge number of unique beers on tap! Good atmosphere and the bartender was very attentive and knew her beers. We also had the fried cheese curds and were quite good but a bit salty for my taste. Overall, will definitely come back when in the area!

We have gone to this place 4x. Not for the food but for the superb beer selection. Where else can you get Sucks and Hopslam on tap?!?! The food is meh. The one bartender is quite funny because I sat at the bar and watched him poor three riduculous, drunk (annoying, loud, over served) chicks a bunch of free Irish car bombs. I know they were free bc he said "they're on me". Then he left us waiting to pay our bill while he went out and smoked with the ubber drunk girls. Awesome. I think that my tip for this place is to go: order an awesome beer, drink it, order the chicken fingers and tots, eat it, order another tasty beer AND nothing else. You will enjoy your experience if you follow my instructions closely. Order the shrimp and expect to grab a seat on the toilet for a looooooong time. Just saying. I believe we will see this joint in bar rescue in a couple years!

Great: Best Bloody Mary (pricey), Beer selection and atmosphere. OPEN LATE FOR DINNER. When the restaurants close in downtown St. Charles, this place is open. Food: Lots of choices but I haven't really enjoyed anything much during my last 3 visits. I keep trying something new. Besides the food, the service is also hit or miss.

The beer list here is stellar and constantly changing, which I think is great. There is always enough choices that it can be tricky making a decision of where to start. Service tends to be friendly without being overbearing. My only beef is that they call themselves a gastropub. No. They are pub-ish. No gastro about it. The food is greasy and tasty, but nothing different from other bars. Wings, burgers, fried bacon, salads and wraps, all of which are...okay. But if you want to call yourself a gastropub, make your menu a notch better than standard pub grub.

I was told this place was great. We went Sat. for lunch. The service was great, that's why I gave it any stars. We started with the cheese curds buffalo style. They were cold and over salted by a lot. The beer was so good, ice cold and it was a hot day. We got the tacos. My wife got the tilapia and I got the shrimp. I tried the fish taco and had a hard time getting it down. The shrimp taco was just ok. I will not be back for food maybe a beer.

They used to have the best chicken tenders ever. Now they changed to a beer batted and there just like everyone else. I can't understand why they would do that?!!!

Word to the wise- don't go out to eat the day after a holiday. Especially don't order fish the day after a holiday-you will be disappointed. I usually get the best food & service at this location but not today. I stood & waited for a while as who I thought was the hostess but was'nt sure put on jacket & wisked outside leaving me standing there. Probably having a smoke came back in & snuck behind the bar like I would'nt think that was the same person. Finally got my waiter & my food & I'm off. I 've had great food & service here before by the very SAME staff. I won't be bothering to drive out to the edges of 64 for rude service & awful food again.

So yeah...tried this place with some friends for dinner and all I can say is...blah! We started off with the Cheddar Ale dip that came with "homemade" chips and multigrain toast points?... So the dip was just like a Velveeta with salsa dip, and not even very warm, the "toast points" were half slices of a multigrain bread that tasted pretty much just like rye and didn't go very well with the dip. And the "homemade" chips could have been homemade but definitely not to order like most places, they were not warm and greasy like you would expect, instead they were cold and just okay. **And we asked for more chips cause we were famished and there was definitely not enough on the plate for the dip, and they charged us $.50...how ridiculous is that?!?!** So after waiting what felt like forever to get our appetizer, we got our food a good while after that! Three of us had the stuffed burger and our other friend had the Cuban. The one thing I liked was that they offered tater tots as a side option...and let me tell you...if you offer tater tots, I am FOR SURE gonna get them!!! And they were very good. But the rest of the food was just okay. We weren't asked how we wanted our burgers and they came very pink inside which wasn't a good thing for O or myself (since I am trying to get pregnant and all). The burgers tasted pretty good, but definitely not anything that I would HAVE to have at a later date. We were given our bill soon after we were finished eating which was a shock since service had otherwise been very slow. But then I had to track someone down to take our bill cause our waitress went MIA! And after the bill was taken, there was some BS about our Restaurant.com coupons that took an extra like 15 minutes!!!!!!!! So...seriously...this place is just NOT that good. Maybe it would be a nice spot to just stop in for some drinks but definitely not for a decent dining experience! And PS...the food is described on here as American (Traditional)...def not! It is bar food at best!

Unfortunately had I had yelp 2+ yrs ago when I discovered this place, it probably would have been a 5 star rating. Sadly tho, a former fav of mine is sliding down hill on my statute of favorites. There food is great and probably their granite cornerstone, their service is the weak ankle keeping this place from becoming a marathon winner. Slow re-fills, slow/inaccurate order taking, slow turn around times for food on perceivably slow days. I know it's not BK, but still... Great beer and wine selection. 20 on tap and always changing. Better place fit late night apps and drinks really.

I'm a musician and went here to do a show with my band on a Saturday night. Granted they are not necessarily set up for live music, but the setup area was a nightmare. Besides that, the servers here are terrible, one in particular who made it seem we were wasting her time asking about beer specials and food details. Another, the one who rang us up, took our card and disappeared, we had to walk over and ask them where my card was and they were not very serious about finding it. Come to find out she also charged my card twice, bit i didn't find out til i checked my bank statement. Overall, the food was just ok and the waitresses were just plain bitchy, rude and not properly trained.

Finding a tasty burger is always a big find for me and so it is Tap House Grill delivers that big find. I've tried the Kobe burger and that Black Angus and for me there is a noticeable difference I rate the Kobe as Very Good and the Angus as GOOD. One of the things that both deliver is a well toasted bun, which for me is a big plus when it comes to rating burgers Both burgers are very juicy and respectable in size Another big hit for THG is they have my favorite root beer Specher's on tap. It is a bit pricy at $3 a glass and if it was a bottomless glass at $3 THG would get 5 stars. My wife had the house salad on her 1st visit w/Kobe burger and enjoyed the salad so much on our second visit, she went with the salad only. She preceded it with the hummus appetizer and she said it was very good, quite good tasty. Both visits are server was Theresa and she was very friendly, the restaurant is quite clean. I have not really study the selection of beers (yet), but there seems to be an good selection. Several TV's tuned to mostly sports stations add a plus if you are a sports fan. Both visits were during the day and the patrons were quiet, but I can't assure that is the case during a Hawks game or night time visit. In short as the star rating says I'm a fan

The Taphouse is a pretty nice place with classier decor and friendly staff. The strawberry martinis are fantastic (made with strawberry puree) and the drinks are reasonably priced. I'm a big fan of the cheesy crab bread and the flatbread, but there was not much else I found appealing. Although it's called the Taphouse, the beer selection isn't that varied (if you're looking for more draft beers head to Alley 64). I really like how it's kind of tucked away, definitely a good chill spot if you're just getting a couple drinks with friends or a quick bite to eat.

I have been to this location many times, as well as the Oswego location. I love their food - very different than your average bar food and lots of options for a vegetarian. However, I am afraid this location has gone down hill. My bf and I went there on a Saturday night, tables were open and we got a seat right away. Shortly after we were seated 3 tables around us were seated as well. After 15 minutes, a waitress took drink orders from the surrounding tables but did not greet us (just acknowledge I'm there! Please). After waiting an additional 10 minutes - now 25 minutes in - and still not waitress we left. I was very disappointed, I was really looking forward to a beer and good food. It was not always this way, but I doubt I will be able to convince my bf to try it again.

We came here to check the potential for a rehearsal dinner location. They unfortunately don't have a party room but the manager (?) is SO nice and is completely willing to push tables together for us and offered to buy us dinner so we could check out the food. How can we say no to free dinner? (Lest it influences my review, we did end up paying only because we wanted to, not because he didn't live up to the bargain. He was actually upset with us that we grabbed the check.) Anyway, I had the Cuban sandwich and Honey had the pulled pork sliders. He loved his sliders and I thought the cuban was pretty good. I thought it was missing the mustard component to give it that "tang" and the pickles were more bread and butter than dill (I don't know what a traditional Cuban is supposed to have on it but I much prefer dill pickles). Had the fries too and they were just fine. The Mac and Cheese varieties look very good as do most of the meat sandwiches (lots of glazes and stuff). Actually, the whole menu looks pretty good! We're undecided about the rehearsal dinner but we had a good time with some good food. Note: the place does get pretty loud around dinner time. We were there from 5-6pm and the noise level only grew. That would be one drawback to the party.

We headed up here on one of those bitter cold days (01/17/09) and were really happy we did. Although we had to park pretty far away from the door, it was worth it. We were seated quickly and ordered up some drinks. We also ordered up some starters, the Pulled Pork Sliders and the Cheddar & Ale dip. Wow, both were fabulous. It had us both thinking about ordering the Pulled Pork dinner but we didn't but will when we go again. MK ordered the Chicken Wrap and was pleased, I the Jerk Chicken Sandwich. It was the perfect Jerk seasoning (well, in my mind it was) and we were really pleased with dinner as well. Waitress was even kind enough to get us some fruit for Aidan since he had already burned through the food we brought for him and seemed to be wanting a lot more. We were too full for dessert but we will have to do that when we go again. I love any place that has Sprecher Root Beer on tap as well. That's some really wonderful stuff . Can't wait to go again.

This place doesn't look like much when you pull up. It's in a strip mall with windows full of generic neon beer signs. However, the food was surprisingly good. The atmosphere inside was a little too much of a rowdy sports bar for me, especially when you are spending a little bit more for a nicer meal. The music was so loud my friend and I had to shout to hear each other. There were lots of rowdy, drunk patrons yell at the sporting events on the jumbo screens. Also, the beer and wine menu on the table was completely out of date. It took 3 orders before I was able to find a drink that they actually still had. I think if you were looking to go out and watch sports and drink beer then this place would be a nice spot, with the added bonus of good food. The good food doesn't really outweigh all the negatives for me however.

My husband and I went in for lunch early on a Saturday afternoon, and there was a decent crowd. Maybe a total of 8 tables, including ours. The food was just plain sub par. My husband ordered the stuffed burger, which he said was bland. But the worst part was that the bottom of the burger had this thick layer of burnt grease. At least, that's what I assume it was, but it was gross. I ordered the chicken chipotle salad. The chicken tenders were cold and soggy, but had certain areas where the breading was very crunchy - and not in a good way. It led me to believe that they were cooked the day before, and then taken out of the fridge, drenched in sauce and thrown in my salad. The lettuce was also incredibly soggy. The service was great though, and our waitress was very nice. But I don't think we will be going back - Tuesdays they have cheap burgers, and if we are in the area MAYBE we will drop in - but it's certainly not worth paying full price.

Sorry folks, bad experience with our waitress here tonight. And let me preface that by saying I am a former bartender and make friends with our servers almost everywhere we go out! No complaints with the food, although I give the salsa about a 1.5 on a scale of 0-5. It was fresh, but not my favorite. Tuesday night burger night. Kind of a create your own burger. Burgers were great, decent beer selection, and along with everybody else, love the tots. Service was another issue. Our server Rachel seemed to have a chip on her shoulder from the moment we sat down. Perhaps it's because we had the girls with us (a 9 year old and the birthday of our 6 year old). Hard to pinpoint one exact moment that put us over. I'd say her attitude was bad and only got cumulatively worse. Up to the point where everyone at the table heard our friend (adult friend) order fish tacos. When the food came the server asked if we had everything and when we said no, we need fish tacos she responded with "no, fish and chips". And we all said "no, fish tacos" and she responded bitterly with "well I heard fish and chips". Too much to go into, but an overall b...h. We'll go back but if we have her, we'll request a different server. As a side note: when we left, my buddy Jason went to the manager and complained. The manager thanked him for letting him know, stating people never say anything. So if you have bad service, let someone know. Perhaps they just don't know there is an issue.

I want to like this place. We live right by it and it's very easy to get take put from here. Its just very hit or miss when you get takeout. My husband cheese is usually missing from his beef and Gouda and today my jerk fish sandwich was chicken. When you eat in the beer selection is awesome and the food and appetizers are great. Just maybe don't get takeout.

One of our local favorites--low key pub atmosphere, and the food and beer selection are top-notch. The food is creative pub fare, and the selections and specials offer very good variety. The flatbreads and gourmet wantons are excellent appetizers, but the pretzels with dipping sauces can be on the dry side. Entree-wise, the fish tacos, gourmet mac and cheese, and stuffed burger are always delicious.

This was our second time here. The first time was okay, not anything impressive. I wouldn't have come again, but my son chose to go there for his birthday. He got the pulled pork sandwich (again) which he liked. Here's the rest...the food is terrrible. Calamari: so salty, couldn't stand it. Side salad with Bleu cheese dressing: tasted like no dressing, there was something white on there and there were some croutons that were extremely burnt (black). Thought they were pumpernickel until I ate one and spit it out. Child's pizza: soggy pita bread with sauce and cheese; obviously not eaten by my son. Ordered another kids item instead. Mac & cheese. Seriously, you can't do that wrong. Apparently you can. He wouldn't eat that. Daughter's $11.99 5 cheese mac and cheese: soupy mess with too much bread crumbs. She ate maybe a third of it. Said it was bad. And, really, $11.99? It's pasta and what looked like some sauce made with Velveeta. Meatball Panini: sounded good. Tasted terrible. I was hungry and could only manage to choke down 1/3 of it. They were served with super salty tater tots. Stay away from this place unless you just plan on having beer. That was fine and their $2.49 bottomless sodas. You need a lot of soda because of the salt overload and to wash down tasteless and disgusting food.

This unassuming place looks like so many others where you get the usual "pub grub" BUT not so! The owner is a classically trained chef who brought the family to the suburbs a few years ago, and put a definite culinary flair on his menu. Yes, you got your cheeseburgers, fries and the like, but where can you find freshly fried tater tots, and they even take those and make them into tater-totchos -yumm! The blue cheese mushroom flatbread is to die, along with a brilliant flatbread with apples, brie and homemade caramel sauce. Everything there is MADE THERE! Even the salad dressings. The other thing they do that is great is they offer different sides, like a salad instead of fries or tots, but a NICE salad. Hubby loves the wings, they are more like mini drumsticks. Very meaty and 5 different hotnesses (Is that a word??) Beer pairings are always mouthwatering too, they do those about once a month. This place is definatley our default "Where do you wanna go tonight" place. Always good. The only caution I have is when they say spicy, they mean it! If you are spicy-phobic, stay away from those items........

4.45 Stars. Really dug this place. Had the corndog-scalops, pulled pork sliders, and the chopped chicken salad. The food was tastey my favorite was the scalops. The menu was inventive, unique, and playful... a rariety in the suburbs where many bars have play it safe menus catering to the conservative tastebuds of the republicans who live in places like Saint Charles. I digress... We had a couple Two Brothers Domane Dupage which was on draft, that is until one round came with an Oberon glass... apon further investigation we found they had it draft, what a wonderful discovery in such a dreadful town.... I would have given the 5 but for being called the "taphouse" their 20 drafts were not that impressive, sure they have to cater to the locals, but I would have liked to see some more interesting stuff. Glassware is an issue, the Oberon came in a pint glass which is not how it should be served.

The food is really outstanding, especially for a pub and there's some different fare on a decent-sized menu. I really want to give this place a higher review, but you just can't go there when you're in a hurry, and since I work in St. Charles and basically only ever want to go there for lunch, the service element is a huge pain. In their defense, our waitresses have always been nice, but the place is clearly understaffed and they are always working their butts off and struggling to keep up. The food comes out slowly, so I assume it's the same situation in the kitchen. It's a shame that they aren't quicker because it's a cute place (the interior REALLY looks like it doesn't belong in a strip mall, which is where the Taphouse is located) and not very crowded since it's somewhat isolated, but the food is so good that chances are, I'll suck it up and deal with it again one of these days.

Great food! We ordered the crab-creamcheese appetizers and they were amazing. I also ordered the bbq beef sandwich and it's been the best out of many restaurants that I've tried! We also tried the bacon burger and enjoyed it as well. We will definitely go back!

Went with a couple friends on a friday night...cute little place surprisingly located in a strip mall, I thought it would have been inthe downtown near the other bars. Nonetheless we had great service - our waitress even knew how to correctly pour a beer-my boyfriend ordered a hacker pschorr and was very impressed. Wings were very good-they have a sampler of 3 wings for $3.00 - so we tried 2 different kinds-Garlic & Chipotle-both very tasty. We also had the Cheddar Ale dip for an appetizer - the homemade tortilla chips were out of this world along with the garlic bread for dipping. The Chicken Caeser panini was HUGE and was outstanding! I was disappointed in the Adobe Chicken Wrap that I ordered (too watery/no flavor) so I traded with the bf for the panini..much better! One of the guys ordered the Bleu Cheese Burger and he said it was one of the best burgers he's ever had! Nice little secret hangout place! We will definitely be back to try out their outside patio area - when its not raining!

They were surprisingly un-crowded during the Cubs playoff game, but that was okay with us since we just wanted to eat, drink, and have a little conversation. The inside is nicely done (has an upscale feel) . They do have outdoor seating but who wants to sit in a strip mall parking lot? The inside is nice; stay in :) I couldn't care less about the beer selection - I'm a Miller Light girl - but the food selection was awesome! (the newly opened Alley 64 could take a serious lesson from this place!!). I had a hard time deciding what to order, but settled on the chicken pesto wrap. Boyfriend had a meatball panini that looked fabulous (and he said it was). I don't like meatballs and I still kinda wanted to try it! We will definitely go back to try out more of the menu items. Cool place!
